Recommendations from the locals! |

"Good brew pub" |

|
"Trendy bars/clubs" |
- Matchbox is great! Good food and drink. 7 and H
streets. Not sure how large your group is so beat the
dinner rush and go by or before 6 p.m. Again, it's close
to the convention center.

- Proof: (Wine Bar/Eclectic, Penn Quarter) 775
G Street, Washington, DC 20001, 202-737-7663
Proof, with 40 wines by the glass, encourages sharing of
dishes. The charcuterie plate can easily be shared by 4
as a starter. Try the sautéed yukon gold potato gnocchi
for a second. Plates of artisan cheeses are served with
an incredible creamed honey.

- Churchkey: - Has a GREAT beer menu, actually
a "directory"

- Mie N Yu: A truly unique experience, and a
wonderful social experiment. Guests from all corners of
the globe have been intrigued by this oasis of enjoyment
in the heart of historic Georgetown. http://www.mienyu.com/

"Good, pricey
restaurants - e.g. steak & seafood places" |
- Brasserie Beck is really good. Upscale menu.
They have a boat load of Belgian brews on tap -good
stuff! Better yet, they have an outdoor dining beer
garden area. It's at 11th and K just north of where the
Kastles play and a few blocks from the convention
center.

- Vidalia : $$$ to $$$$ but well worth it.

- Blueduck Tavern: American food, based on
what's available regionally and in season. Menu changes
alot. Very good food, excellent service. $$$

- Hook: (Georgetown) 3241 M St NW, Washington,
DC 20007-3616 Hook is an upscale restaurant located on
Georgetown's classy but pricey M-Street drag. Hook's
specialization is fish, although they regularly add
delicious variations of calamari and fresh oysters to
the menu. Hook's menu changes constantly in order to
accommodate the freshest ingredients on the market that
week. $$$-$$$$ -

- Rosa Mexicana (Modern Mexican, Penn Quarter)
575 7th St NW Washington, DC 20004 - House specialty
cocktail--pommegranite margarita. Guacamole prepared
table side is a must. $$$ -

- Filomeno - Excellent Italian Restaurant in
Georgetown. Need reservations. One of the best. While
you're there!
http://filomena.com/
- Founding Fathers Restaurant: Good local
"green" restaurant preparing meals using foods from "the
heartland." Not too expensive.
http://www.wearefoundingfarmers.com/
- Lauriol Plaza and Cactus Cantina: Good
Mexican, reasonable prices. Great margaritas. Lauriol
Plaza is their more "upscale" restaurant, located in
Dupont Circle. Cactus Cantina is in northwest DC. -

time to go.) more info
- Eastern Market: Upscale flea market, farmers market
and restaurant all on one property.

- Rooftop of Hotel Washington for best view of the
city at night. Go for a drink or appetizers.
- Other options:
- Shows at wolftrap:

- The Newseum is a pretty cool place to visit.
It costs money but there's plenty to do/see there. It's
on 6th and Penn. A nice little walk straight down from
the convention center to Pennsylvania Ave.
