About the Event
Good day!! I hope that this finds everyone well. Across the nation, many states have started to reopen businesses and are starting to relax some COVID-19 travel restrictions. We anticipate that the COVID Crisis will continue to improve and social distancing and travel restrictions will continue to relax as we go through the summer. We are still planning on holding the Annual PAOS Conference in Denver, CO. In order to minimize attendee’s time away from the office, we have shifted the dates to the right by a couple of days. We will now start the conference on Wednesday, August 19, with the optional workshops. The general session lectures will begin on Thursday, August 20, and run through Sunday at noon (August 23). We are excited to be having the conference at the Sheraton Denver Downtown which has had a recent transformation and renovation of the lobby, guestrooms and meeting space The Sheraton Denver Downtown is located on the popular 16th Street Mall, a mile-long pedestrian promenade with shopping and dining.
At the present time, however, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention continues to urge all Americans to stay home as much as possible and avoid nonessential travel. We understand that many businesses, groups, hospitals, and practices have current restrictions remaining in place for travel, and some have forecasted restrictions out until the end of July. The uncertainty in this makes it hard to commit to attending events such as the conference. We understand this and would like you to know that we are committed to planning an extraordinary conference providing high quality CME opportunities. Registration will be opening May 15, 2020 and you may start to reserve rooms through our room block starting this date as well.
We are taking several additional measures into our planning considerations to make this a safe conference for all attendees, speakers and sponsors. The hotel has implemented additional measures in their protocols for cleaning to ensure adequate disinfecting and sanitization of all meeting space areas, hotel rooms, common areas and facilities, and dining venues. We are adjusting our seating arrangements in both the general session room and the workshops to ensure that we maintain adequate 6’ distance and ease of access to and from your seat. The hotel is closely monitoring government policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and Public health advancements and will continue to make changes as necessary or appropriate. We will continue to update all attendees on the hotel standards.
While adhering to the guidance of restrictions, we may not be able to provide all of our typical workshops, but we will keep you apprised of changes in the schedule if this occurs. We do look forward to hosting workshops to include the Principles of Coding, Bone Health Symposium, Fracture Fixation, Graft Techniques, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Techniques, Casting and Splinting Techniques, and Upper and Lower Extremity Exam Techniques. These workshops may be limited, based on restrictions at the time of the conference.
We have many well-known physicians and surgeons from within the Denver area, The Steadman Hawkins Clinic, University of Colorado and many trusted practices within the community, that will be providing lectures on up-to-date orthopaedic topics covering sports medicine, arthroplasty, rehabilitation, orthopaedic trauma, and more.
We look forward to an exceptional Annual Conference that will be providing quality clinical education opportunities, social networking, and an enjoyable Denver experience in August. I am excited to catch up with everyone at the conference this year and hope that as we enter the summer everyone stays healthy, well, and safe!!
